My pessimistic nature, and my being 62 yrs old, gets in my way of thinking "the best has yet to come" for me. However, I can hope that it is yet to come for you, Mara!
Good luck with your Family Research. I, also, am a fan of Family History/Genealogy.
My paternal great-grandfather arrived at the Port of New York in Aug 1867, having come from England while he was only a teenager. His siblings and mother were on the ship with him. I have not been able to confirm when his father arrived; but, I believe it was earlier in 1867. The family then settled in Newark, DE, where the father and his older 3 sons (my gr-grandpa included) began working for a Woolen Mill.
I still live in Newark, more than 140 years after they first arrived here! 8-)
